Position: Technologies and Outreach Educator

  • 20 to 25 hours per week Tuesday through Friday
  • Starting range $18 - $22 / hour plus benefits including pro-rated vacation, holiday, and sick leave; OPERS retirement; and life insurance

We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Technologies and Outreach Educator to join the Northwest Regional Library System (NORWELD) team. NORWELD serves public libraries in northwest Ohio. The Technologies and Outreach Educator will be responsible for developing and implementing educational programs and outreach activities that help library staff engage with new and existing technologies and successfully offer STEM-based library programming to their patrons.

The ideal candidate has an enthusiasm and aptitude for the following:

  • Researching, identifying, and recommending tools, devices, equipment and technologies that enhance NORWELD and member libraries operations
  • Learning and operating a variety of existing and cutting-edge technologies
  • Providing training on the operation of devices, kits, equipment, and the website platform Drupal
  • Serving as a point of contact for all things related to hosted websites
  • Developing technology and STEM/Early Literacy-driven programming resources
  • Assisting in the development of marketing materials and general communication for NORWELD news and activities
  • Adapting to a changing professional landscape and a willingness to embrace lifelong learning

A knowledge of basic library operations is highly desired. An ability to work both independently and collaboratively, to multitask, and excellent communication and organizational skills required.

 

DUTIES

The Technologies and Outreach Educator develops and educates member libraries in various forms of technology, including website training, developing technology-focused programs and services, serving as the point of contact for all things related to hosted websites; and assisting in the development of marketing materials and general communication for NORWELD news and activities.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM or related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and virtual reality      
  •  3+ years of experience in educational program development and implementation desired
  • Strong communication, presentation, and training skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel
