Janelle Thomas, MLIS - Executive Director

Janelle brings a wide range of experiences to NORWELD from both the public and private sectors. Her educational background includes studies in journalism, history, and psychology, along with a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Wayne State University. She is grateful to have had the opportunity to work for both Michigan and Ohio libraries in multiple capacities spanning from page work to administration. While working as the Director of a midsize rural library in Northwest Ohio, she also served for several years on the NORWELD Board of Trustees and on the OLC NW Chapter Committee. In addition to working at NORWELD, Janelle also serves as the Librarian for the Lucy Wolcott Barnum Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and occasionally still dabbles in freelance newspaper journalism. In her spare time, she can be found reading, birding, bicycling, chasing after her dog, and volunteering at the Croswell Opera House in Adrian, MI.

 

Linda Joseph - Fiscal Officer

Linda has been managing the finances for NORWELD since 1995. As Fiscal Officer, she wears two hats- she has also been with Wood County District Public Library since 1992. She and her husband have four children and nine grandchildren. When not spending time with them, Linda is often sewing, gardening, cooking, or volunteering for her church.

 

Karla Snyder, MS - Continuing Education Coordinator

Karla has an educational background in biological and environmental science, including a Master of Science in Environmental Management from the University of Findlay. Her career has been varied, working for 20+ years in the chemical/petroleum industry focusing on environmental compliance, sustainability, employee training, and coordination of various events. She is also an adjunct instructor at BGSU, Northwest State Community College, and Owens Community College. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, gardening, walking, reading, learning, traveling, and creating.

 

Beth Parker, MLIS - Technologies and Outreach Educator

Beth has a background in environmental education and holds her Master of Library and Information Science degree from Kent State University. She has been a naturalist for several organizations where she was able to lead hands-on STEM lessons in the marsh, the bog, and the forest. She has also worked in youth services at a public library. In her spare time, Beth enjoys walking their dog with her husband, performing in community theater productions, birding, and crafting.
